The Great Nomad Expedition 2024

The Great Nomad Expedition - Join us for an unforgettable adventure in 2024!

Dear Adventure Seekers,

If the idea of galloping across wide open spaces beneath a beautiful blue sky excites you, then I have some fantastic news to share!

We have just returned from our thrilling 1200km ride across the Mongolian steppe, and the experience was so incredible that we've decided to do it all over again next year. That's right; the Great Nomad Expedition is back for 2024, and it promises to be the biggest, longest, and most exciting adventure out there.

Imagine crossing over 1000km of Mongolia, from the south to the north, staying with different nomadic groups and families along the way. Our journey will take us through the desert, the vast grassland steppe, and the majestic mountains, providing a glimpse of Mongolia's diverse landscapes and its rich nomadic culture.

Throughout the expedition, we will be riding on camels, yaks, reindeer, and the famous Mongolian horses, offering you a unique and authentic experience. This adventure is not for the faint-hearted; it's for those who crave something special, wish to embrace expedition travel, and seek a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Before you decide to join us, please ensure that you are a reasonably confident rider, comfortable with walk, trot, and cantering in the open.

Our journey will commence in the mesmerizing Gobi Desert, with its glowing gold sand dunes, and lead us over 1000km north, where we will conclude our expedition in the beautiful national parks with the nomadic Dukha people. This area is renowned for its lush forests, stunning mountains, pristine rivers, and diverse wildlife, including elk, bears, snow leopards, and argali.

While some days will be demanding, with about 90km in the saddle at a brisk pace, these challenges make it one of the most unique adventures in the world. The riding conditions will be like a dream come true, especially for those who love the freedom of galloping on horseback.

But it's not all about rigorous riding; there will be moments of tranquility and appreciation, where you can relish the breathtaking mountains and lakes while riding yaks and reindeer at a more leisurely pace. You'll have the opportunity to swim in waterfalls and immerse yourself in the beauty of Mongolia's wildflower-filled meadows.

Mark your calendars! The expedition dates are July 4th to 27th, 2024. We have kept the same route but made a few improvements to ensure an even better experience for you.

Now, let's talk logistics. To reach Mongolia, you can fly from the Southern Hemisphere via Seoul (South Korea), Beijing, Hong Kong, or Tokyo (Japan), with regular flights to Ulaanbaatar. Miat (Mongolian) and Korean Air are reliable carriers, and Air Asia currently offers competitive rates.

For those traveling from the northern hemisphere, Istanbul, Seoul, and Germany have regular flights to Mongolia. Miat, being a Mongolian airline, operates multiple flights daily from South Korea.

The good news is that Mongolia is now visa-free for most countries, and there's also an easy e-visa process available online. To check if you need a visa or e-visa, visit https://evisa.mn.

During the expedition, our talented Mongolian cook will prepare delicious meals even in the most remote locations. We will also enjoy traditional Mongolian feasts along the way. If you have any dietary requirements or allergies, please let us know in advance so we can accommodate your needs.

In terms of health, this trip requires a reasonable level of fitness.

The cost of this incredible expedition is $10,000 USD, covering accommodation and all meals within the expedition dates. You will also receive two custom-made Mongolian garments to wear during the journey. Please note that flights and insurance are not included.

To secure your spot, we require a 20% deposit, and spaces are limited to 10 people. Full payment must be made one month before the expedition's departure date. Payments can be made to our Mongolian Bank Account or via PayPal.

Finally, if we haven't had the pleasure of speaking with you personally yet, please tell us why you'd like to be part of this extraordinary expedition. Share a little about your riding experience, previous travels, and anything else you believe would add to our team. Honesty is appreciated, and if you need to prepare before July, we can discuss how to make it possible.

If you have any questions or queries, please don't hesitate to get in touch with us.

We look forward to embarking on this unforgettable journey with you!

Cheers,

Chloe Phillips-Harris

What is this?

What exactly is happening? Mongolia is home to some of the last true nomadic people and way of life on earth, but it is disappearing at an alarming rate. We want to celebrate this culture and wide open spaces before its gone with one epic journey starting in the Gobi Desert to the south and traveling all the way to the forests of Siberia in the North. We want to ride into the history books and celebrate nomadic life the best way we know, with one big wild ride. A 1300km ride to be exact. The Great Nomad Expedition will cross deserts, rivers, mountains and some of the most beautiful land scape and grasslands that make Mongolia famous. This is going to be the longest multi animal expedition on earth.

Get in the Saddle

The Great Nomad Expedition is unique in the world. Not just because of the challenge and distance to covers, but because its the only event to bring together the opportunity to travel using four very different kinds of animals. The Camel for the desert, the horses for the grasslands, yaks to take you over the mountains and reindeer for the forests and taiga of the north.
